Aprox 150 different cars in different classes racing on the brand new Hampton Downs circuit. Everything was represented,from Lotus,to BMW,Alfa Romeo to Ferrari,Morgan to Maserati. Cars from Europe,England,America and even Australia,all racing at the same time. The new track is fantastic,still lots of work to do,plenty of earth works to get into the backgrounds of shots,but it has plenty of elevation changes,some challenging corners and unprecedented views over and around the fences. When complete this really will be a world class track,for both drivers and spectators. I’m looking forward to it. I don’t normally do weddings,but this was lovely small and private event and Chrissy believed my style would be perfect for getting some nice simple photos of the service and some portraits afterwards. Auckland turned on the weather for the day,and Chrissy and Mark both looked fantastic. It was a wonderful day,thanks guys! W. Historics –Lotus Esprit Turbo">K. W. Historics –Lotus Esprit TurboEver wanted to own a Lotus? This rare example of the famous Lotus Esprit Turbo is currently for sale at K W Historic in Auckland. Ken (from K W Historics) normally fixes and services Lotus and other classic marques,but is selling this on behalf of a customer. It is a New Zealand new car,one of only 96 built in 1988 for export. With only one owner to date,and a very low 28,000 miles on it is still like new,right down to the original factory fitted stereo. As you can imagine it is fantastic to drive. The Esprit defined the wedge shaped super car,a shape still around today. Despite being over 20 years old,this one still looks the part,it is a classic design that will never age. a href="http://www.andrewhales.com/550/a-collection-of-product-photos/" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to A Collection of Product Photos">A Collection of Product Photos Someone recently asked to see some of my product work,and I realised that for various reasons very little of it has found its way onto my own website. The above photos are from a variety of different industries,everything from industrial machinery,to glass shelves and office chairs to lollies. The images have been used on company websites,in printed marketing material and in national advertising campaigns. Each presented its own set of challenges,the glass shelf for example needed very precise control of reflections and highlights,while the lollies needed to be lite in such away that they appear to glow. Good product photography requires creative and technical know how,as well as strong problem solving skills. I am able to bring all of that,along with some custom,portable equipment so I can being my photography to you and your products,where ever they may be. a href="http://www.andrewhales.com/537/throng-tv/" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to Throng TV!">Throng TV!Throng TV has been described as being like E!,but with bigger balls. It stars Ben Kettell,Dayna Bose and Hamish Collman-Ross as the presenters in an extension of the cool TV watching site www.throng.co.nz Throng.co.nz was created so that Kiwis could have somewhere to discuss local TV,whats showing,whats in production,what’s worth watching and what isn’t. There are several cool blogs,open forums,and content coming both inside,and out side the industry. Throng TV simply takes that concept a step further with a fortnightly 25 minute show about whats happening in the NZ TV industry.Its entertaining,with great interviews and stories all presented by the beautiful Dayna,hard hitting Hamish and the recently graduated Ben. They were all coming up to Auckland for the weekend,and had rented an inner city apartment Chantelle thought would make a cool setting for a glamorous fashion style shoot.
The apartment was indeed very cool,and included enough room to set up my portable studio along with some funky furniture.
We had a great time,and got some pretty cool photos. a href="http://www.andrewhales.com/499/body-painting-with-cats-creations/" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to Body Painting with Cats Creations">Body Painting with Cats CreationsI was lucky enough to catch up with Cat from Cats Creations while she was visiting from the UK. Cat is a world class body painter and has successfully competed in international competitions,on her own,and as part of a team representing the UK. Cat had plans to create a Paua Shell design on a male model and shoot at one of the West Auckland beaches. As you can see this did not exactly pan out,there is a shortage of Male models in Auckland,and with gale force winds and freezing temperatures there was no way we could shoot at the beach. Fortunately Cat was able to to find the extremely cool and funky Leila B to model and I found the location,a very cool 1940s warehouse. The concept changed from a Paua Shell Prince to a Punk Rock Mermaid and we had a fantastic shoot. Beat and Merciana both run a variety of online stores and Beat also does IT support. They both take after their mother in many different ways,including an interest in acting and modeling. These were shot at the same time,using the same set up as the shots of Merciana. Both girls are absolute naturals in front of the camera. |
