I don’t normally do weddings, but this was lovely small and private event and Chrissy believed my style would be perfect for getting some nice simple photos of the service and some portraits afterwards. Auckland turned on the weather for the day,and Chrissy and Mark both looked fantastic. It was a wonderful day, thanks guys! It stars Ben Kettell,Dayna Bose and Hamish Collman-Ross as the presenters in an extension of the cool TV watching site www.throng.co.nz Throng.co.nz was created so that Kiwis could have somewhere to discuss local TV,whats showing, whats in production, what’s worth watching and what isn’t. There are several cool blogs, open forums, and content coming both inside, and out side the industry. Throng TV simply takes that concept a step further with a fortnightly 25 minute show about whats happening in the NZ TV industry. Its entertaining, with great interviews and stories all presented by the beautiful Dayna, hard hitting Hamish and the recently graduated Ben. You can check out their first episode at www.thong.co.nz/tv and look out for my photos in the opening sequence. a href="http://www.andrewhales.com/529/glamour-girls/" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to Glamour Girls">Glamour GirlsChantelle contacted me about doing a shoot with her and two friends,Anna and Jess. They were all coming up to Auckland for the weekend, and had rented an inner city apartment Chantelle thought would make a cool setting for a glamorous fashion style shoot. The apartment was indeed very cool, and included enough room to set up my portable studio along with some funky furniture. We had a great time, and got some pretty cool photos. a href="http://www.andrewhales.com/499/body-painting-with-cats-creations/" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to Body Painting with Cats Creations">Body Painting with Cats CreationsI was lucky enough to catch up with Cat from Cats Creations while she was visiting from the UK. Cat is a world class body painter and has successfully competed in international competitions,on her own,and as part of a team representing the UK. Cat had plans to create a Paua Shell design on a male model and shoot at one of the West Auckland beaches. As you can see this did not exactly pan out, there is a shortage of Male models in Auckland, and with gale force winds and freezing temperatures there was no way we could shoot at the beach. Fortunately Cat was able to to find the extremely cool and funky Leila B to model and I found the location,a very cool 1940s warehouse. The concept changed from a Paua Shell Prince to a Punk Rock Mermaid and we had a fantastic shoot. Enjoy. a href="http://www.andrewhales.com/494/suess-family/" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to Suess Family">Suess FamilyIn the previous updates we have meet modeling and acting mum Merciana and her daughters Annabell and Chantay, now we get to meet Dad. Beat and Merciana both run a variety of online stores and Beat also does IT support. These were again shot in the make shift studio, showing just what can be done with the right portable gear to make the best of any location. a href="http://www.andrewhales.com/489/annabell-and-chatay/" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to Annabell and Chantay">Annabell and ChantayMerciana from the previous update has two wonderful daughters. They both take after their mother in many different ways, including an interest in acting and modeling. These were shot at the same time, using the same set up as the shots of Merciana. Both girls are absolute naturals in front of the camera. a href="http://www.andrewhales.com/481/33-prettier/" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to Merciana –33% more beautiful">Merciana –33% more beautifulThese were literally a last minute idea. Merciana and her husband Beat work upstairs from where I spend some of my days. I had the camera and she needed some updated shots of herself and daughters for an agent in a hurry. A bit of quick thinking, some clever lighting and I turned a corner into a temporary studio. Merciana is about to show up in a series of adds for a local beer, keep your eyes open, they are quite humorous and she looks rather glamorous. a href="http://www.andrewhales.com/477/sarah-and-sam-fun-portraits/" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to Sarah and Sam,Fun Portraits">Sarah and Sam,Fun PortraitsIt may be winter, but that doesn’t mean we can’t go out and enjoy some of the clear fine days we have been having. These were shot on Location at North Head on Aucklands North Shore. With Sam leading the way we went right around the mountian, including a stop for some formals with his Grandmother in a slightly different kind of studio carved out of the hill near the tunnels. Sarah has ordered a selection of 5 x 7.5 prints, several of which are being mounted on matt boards. Here is just a selection of the best: a href="http://www.andrewhales.com/459/damian-stuntman/" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to Damian –Stuntman">Damian –StuntmanDamian is well trained in a variety of martial arts and is off to study sports science and teaching next semester. He is looking for some part time work to support himself so a good friend suggested he have a go at stunt work. He asked me to take some photos for him to put in a portfolio. Along with the usual headshot he was also asked to provide a body shot, and to have some fun we also did a few shots of him practicing his kicks. The power and speed at which he kicks is just amazing to watch, and a real challenge to photograph. If I need a body guard I know who I’ll call. |
